Open day at the Belgian experimental site

On Friday 28th June, the vegetable research center Kruishoutem (PCG) held an open day focusing on the organic protected crops (greenhouse and polytunnel).

The Greenresilient project was presented and was very well received by those present. The main questions asked were about the efficiency of the straw to prevent weeds popping up and about the flower strips. We could already tell that the straw is less efficient in reducing weed pressure than the plastic mulch. Out of the 12 flower species sowed in the flower strips, 10 species could be found and some of them already started flowering, meaning a lot of insect activity was observed in the neighborhood.
